Success Stories
Advocating for Ukraine doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Here are some ways that we’ve already made a difference.
Op-Ed Challenge
We supported RPCVs to share their stories from Ukraine as part of our Op-Ed Challenge, including:
- Eric Ruthford, The Seattle Times
- Jake McGrew, Daily Emerald
- Francine Curro Cary, Toledo Blade
- Cortney Copeland, The Sacramento Bee
- Aimee Nord, The Press Democrat
- Katherine Fitch, Casper Star-Tribune

Letter-Writing Campaign
Leading up to and following the full-scale invasion, we launched a letter-writing campaign that resulted in nearly 4,000 letters being sent to the Biden Administration and Congressional leaders. Many of the actions called for in these letters have since been undertaken, including strong sanctions against Russia, cutting Russia off from the SWIFT banking system, and significant humanitarian and defense aid to Ukraine.
Peace Corps Petition
More than 750 RPCVs and allies signed our petition to Peace Corps CEO, Carol Spahn, to support priority refugee status for Peace Corps Ukraine support staff, counterparts, and host families.
Uniting for Ukraine
Since the Uniting for Ukraine program launched, we have connected U.S. sponsors to 21 Ukrainian families or individuals totaling 46 people, 2 dogs, and a cat. Many of the Ukrainians benefitting from this initiative came from hard-hit places like Kherson, Mariupol, Melitopol, and Kharkiv. Others were impacted by the initial wave of the invasion in Chernihiv and the attacks on civilians in Vinnytsia and Kramatorsk.
Individual First Aid Kits
Since the beginning of the invasion, our team and our Ukrainian partners have delivered more than 2,000 high-grade Individual First Aid Kits to high-priority areas within Ukraine.
