2024 Equity and Social Justice Update No. 2

In the second quarter of 2024, the Equity and Social Justice Committee worked on two primary projects to advance their strategic goals: 

  • Annual DEIB survey
    • The committee sent out their annual DEIB survey on May 6. Members were encouraged to take the survey through two email blasts, a few social media posts, and in a section of the monthly newsletter. 
    • Sixty-two people responded to the survey. 
    • The committee discussed the results of the survey in their July meeting and will report out to the board of directors about the results. 
  • Recommendations for board member onboarding 
    • In the May and June board meetings, the ESJ Committee presented recommendations to the board of directors about voting procedures and onboarding for new board members. 
    • The committee chair (ESJ officer) will follow up with the recommendations at the July 2024 board meeting to ensure there are clear next steps for implementing the recommendations. 

The Equity and Social Justice Committee still consists of three board members: Kati Bell (Equity and Social Justice Officer), Julianne Dunn, and Sharece Bunn. The committee continues to invite other members interested in equity and social justice to join the committee and bring fresh perspectives to the team.
